White Christmas & Will Rogers Toy/Clothing Drive Update
Our Circle Drive Church family possesses the spiritual DNA of giving/generosity, and "lives out" II Corinthians 9:7: "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for GOD loves a cheerful giver." II Corinthians 8:4 is another verse that reminds me of our church family: "For I bear witness that according to their ability, yes, and beyond their ability, they were freely willing." When I reflect upon GOD's wonderful people here, I am reminded of I Chronicles 29:9: "Then the people rejoiced, for they had offered willingly, because with a loyal heart they had offered willingly to the LORD..."
Our church family has demonstrated the grace of giving in two specific mission projects: White Christmas and the toy/clothing drive for Will Rogers Elementary School. Here are a few details.
White Christmas was a huge success. People brought their white sacks filled with non-perishable items. Then the church provided the perishable items (e.g., milk, eggs, bread, a turkey). We were able to provide an abundant supply of food for 16 families in need. One White Christmas recipient was a widow who lives on an extremely limited, fixed budget. She wrote this thank you note: "Dear Sue and my friends at Circle Drive Baptist Church, thank you so much for the food you gave me. Y'all are absolutely wonderful and my new friends! You are truly a blessing to me! GOD is so good to me! This is a Christmas miracle that Sue contacted me. I really needed this food. Thank you again for the fantastic Christmas gift! I love you all!"
Likewise, our Will Rogers Elementary toy/clothing drive was a huge success. Ed McGee, Ross Jagers, Joel Taylor, and I delivered 4 gigantic boxes filled with toys, as well as 3 other boxes and 12 large plastic bags filled with toys and clothes. In talking with one of the teachers, one child told another that they had a Christmas tree with no decorations and no presents under the tree. Well, this little child is going to be surprised this Christmas!
I also need to let you know that our AIM senior adult ministry donated 450+ pairs of socks for students at Will Rogers. They donated the socks at our recent AIM Christmas Program sponsored by the church staff.
I am so incredibly blessed to be the lead pastor of the most amazing church family. Selfless and sacrificial, they respond with great joy and generosity when a need is identified. To GOD be the glory!
