THANKSGIVING 2020
I Chronicles 16:34 declares, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
Psalm 136: 1-3 states, “Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever! Oh, give thanks to the GOD of gods! For His mercy endures forever! Oh, give thanks to the LORD of lords! For His mercy endures forever!
Psalm 107:31: “Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!”
If there was ever a year that would challenge our spirit of thanksgiving, the year 2020 would rank “right up there at the top.” COVID-19. The national elections. Social upheaval. And more. This year has been very hard in so many respects.
Yet, GOD’s Word reminds us of a different perspective than the world’s. We are “in CHRIST.” Because of our eternal salavation, “Old things have passed away. Behold all things have become new.” In Him (JESUS) we have obtained an inheritance” (Ephesians 1:11). Our “citizenship is in heaven” (Philippians 3:20).
When I am tempted to feel ungrateful, I quote II Corinthians 9:15: “Thanks be to GOD for His indescribable gift!” The gift of salvation through JESUS is the “game-changer.” HE is my hope both present and future! Regardless of life’s difficult circumstances, NOT one thing can sever my relationship with JESUS. I am so thankful for the wonderful promise of John 10:28: “And I give them eternal life, and they shall no not never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.”
I want to wish you, my church family, a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! I am so thankful GOD has given me the privilege and joy of serving such a wonderful church family! I am thankful for all of you, and am thankful for the remarkable future GOD has in store for us!!
