Our Last Worship Service: Celebrating 63 years of ministry at 801 N. Circle Drive

This Sunday morning concludes 63 years of ministry at 801 N. Circle Drive! It does not conclude the ministry of Circle Drive, because the “church” is not a building, but the “church” is the people of GOD.

These buildings “hold” lots of memories for our members. Many were saved and baptized here. Some were married here. Members have taught the Bible here. Revival meetings were held here. Staff members have come and gone. Many faithful members have “gone home to be with the LORD.” Difference-making ministry has been done here. At 801 N. Circle Drive through the years, GOD has done “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.”

Indeed, GOD has accomplished so much through His people called Circle Drive. Yet, in His divine sovereignty, He has led us to relocate our church campus to the corner of Marksheffel and Bradley Roads, and has led a Hispanic congregation to take over our buildings in order to reach the exploding Hispanic population in our 80909 and also 80910 zip code areas.

Be sure to attend this very special service this coming Sunday morning. We will have a special memento to give every family. In our worship service, we will recognize (1) those who have been saved and baptized at Circle Drive, (2) those who have been members for 50+ years, (3) and also the “longest-standing” members of our church.

The Sunday morning message will be appropriate for the occasion, as we praise GOD for the past and move toward GOD’s preferred future for us. During the offering, we will have a special 10 minute slide presentation of the 63 year history of Circle Drive. We will have copies of this slide show available for those who would like to make a donation of at least $10.00 to our REACH building fund. People may buy as many copies as they wish for $10 per copy.

As I have been reflecting on the ministry impact of CDBC these 63 years, I have thought of the chorus of a familiar gospel hymn:

Praise the LORD, praise the LORD, Let the earth hear His voice!

Praise the LORD, praise the LORD, Let the people rejoice!

O come to the Father, through JESUS the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

Jeremiah 29:11 declares: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
