The theme of this month’s message series is “BY FAITH.” With the coronavirus national crisis, it certainly is a timely theme! GOD’s Word reminds us in II Corinthians 5:7 that “we walk by faith and not by sight.” Romans 1:17 declares, “The just shall live by faith.”

As we walk by faith, we trust GOD and His sovereignty over all of His creation. By faith, we trust GOD to work out all things for the good (Romans 8:28). While people are filled with fear, we as GOD’s people should be filled with faith. Remember the words of JESUS in John 14:27: “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not at the world gives, I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

As you know, we have canceled all activities at our church building for at least the next two weeks. This decision was not based on fear. Rather, it was based on Scripture and prayer.

Here are the 3 truths that led us to discern it was GOD’s will for our church family not to meet.

First, the state government declared that crowds over 250 should not meet. Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from GOD, and the authorities that exist are appointed by GOD.” By canceling all activities, we are obeying Scripture by submitting to the governing authorities.

Second, GOD’s Word says in Mark 12:31 that you“should love your neighbor as yourself.” We decided not to meet in order to be a witness to a watching world. We do not want to meet and possibly catch and spread the corona virus to our community.

Third, we felt led of the LORD not to meet in order to keep our church family safe and healty. That likewise is a witness to the world. John 13:35 declares, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Please join with me in praying for GOD to bring revival to our churches and spiritual awakening to our country as a result of the coronavirus crisis. II Chronicles 7:14 declares:

"If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

I agree with a statement a Christian leader made last week: “We’ve never been called to minister more loudly, urgently and profoundly in our lifetime than in this moment.” In the midst of this national crisis, let’s find opportunities to share our faith in JESUS!
