Leading My First Colorado Executive Board Meeting

Last Monday and Tuesday I presided over my first meeting of the Executive Board of our Colorado State Convention in Denver.  I really enjoyed the experience!  The EB is comprised of 18 persons from across the state, coming together 3 times a year to receive reports, review financials, and vote on important issues.

Our meetings begin on Monday at 2:00 p.m., and conclude at 6:00 p.m.  On Tuesday, we meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Our most important vote came in regard to a 50/50 Cooperative Program split.  In other words, 50% of CP contributions from Colorado churches remains in the state to support our ministries here, and 50% of CP contributions go to support worldwide missions (IMB and NAMB), our 6 seminaries (training over 10,000 ministry students), the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, and the Executive Committee.  It was a historic vote, as our percentage for many years has been 70/30.

I want to encourage our church family to consider making plans to attend the annual meeting of the Colorado Baptist Convention in October at the Marriott Resort in Vail.  I have invited Joel Taylor and our worship band to lead in worship at the sessions.  It will be my privilege and joy to provide leadership for the 2 day meeting, emphasizing extraordinary prayer, fasting, personal revival and spiritual awakening.
