A Word from Dr. Mike - 5/24/22
I have good news to share with you today!! After a very lengthy period of ongoing challenges, the city has finally approved the development plan for our new property. It took 6 submissions to get the job done.
What is the next step? Terra Nova, our site prep company, must design a “grading plan” for the soil on our property. It typically takes 2 weeks to complete this task and get it signed. I have been told the signing is a mere formality. Once the document is signed, we can begin site preparation on our property.
Prayer will play a significant role in the next 12-15 months. Here are ways you can pray.
First, as I shared with the deacons this week in my weekly e-letter, because our church has such enormous potential to impact our community in the location of our new campus, we must be “sober and on the alert” (I Peter 5:8). Why? “Your adversary, the Devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.” The devil also knows the potential for the enormous impact of our new campus, so he has a strategic plan to hinder or stop this project. He will attack our church. He will attack individuals. He will attack marriages. He will attack families. We must be vigilant to pray for our church and our church family. We must pray for GOD to build a hedge of protection around our church, protecting our church family’s unity. We must pray for GOD to build a hedge of protection around our members, our marriages and our families. According to John 10:10, the devil’s master plan is “to steal, to kill, and to destroy.” Let’s pray for divine protection as we move forward to fulfill GOD’s will for our lives and for His church.
Second, please pray for the construction process. Remember Ephesians 3:20: “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Many decisions will need to be made during this process. Pray for GOD to give wisdom to our builder and to our church leaders.
Third, please pray that we will not lose our focus while we build. We need to remember our responsibility and our joy to share the good news of the gospel with non-Christians. I was reminded of this task again this morning at a local restaurant. After our server took our order, I said, “My friend and I are going to pray over our food and give thanks to GOD.” Just how can we pray for you? The server definitely was caught off guard by this question. Then she said, “Please pray for my husband. He just completed a drug treatment program. Please pray he remains sober.” This conversation served as a reminder. Sin
has broken so many lives. So many people remain spiritually lost and live in spiritual darkness. It is our responsibility, as the “light of the world,” to share that light - that good news of the gospel - with “lost” people.
Finally, let’s follow the instruction of Ephesians 6:18. GOD’s Word says, “Pray in the SPIRIT at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”
