    "AN OPEN DOOR"

Not literally. Spiritually speaking. Just what does it mean? Let's turn to the Bible for the answer. GOD's Word uses this phrase in various references. I Corinthians 16:9 declares, "“For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” II Corinthians 2:12 states, “When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord.” Colossians 4:3 says, “At the same time, pray also for us, that God may ope

    OUR SUNDAY MORNING TEAM

I am so grateful to GOD for the men and women who provide leadership for our Sunday morning live-stream!! They serve in so many different roles: technical supervisor, sound board, cameras, slides, video, worship band, and much more. A lot of work is invested by this team even before Sunday morning "happens." When the corona virus hit, which necessitated us going live stream on Sunday mornings, this team "kicked into" high gear. From the time the decision was made on Wednesday

    THOUGHTS ABOUT "COMING BACK"

I really miss gathering with my church family! And I know you do as well! I am thankful, however, we can stay connected via live stream on Sunday mornings and through various zoom and on-line opportunities during the week. While we are grateful for these experiences, they certainly do not compare to the on-site experiences as the people of GOD. As you already know, the state has transitioned from "stay at home" to "safer at home," meaning the government strongly encourages Co

    SUNDAY MORNING

Be sure to join us tomorrow morning at 10:15 am at www.rhccs.org or RHC app for our worship service. Ian Mavity and the band will lead in music worship. Our executive pastor, Ross Jagers, will bring the morning message. His message will coincide with our message theme "The Storm." For the next 6 weeks, we will share from GOD's Word how we should live out the Christian life in the midst of the corona virus pandemic. After the worship service, at 11:30 am, I will lead a chu

THANKING GOD FOR OUR PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANTS

Yesterday was professional assistant's day across our nation. So I wanted to take the opportunity today to express my gratitude to GOD for those who serve JESUS and our church family at Redemption Hill. Lori Cantwell serves as administrative assistant to the lead pastor. Sue Kellner is our business office administrative assistant. Jessica Husted is our communications director. These women are difference-makers. They love JESUS and they love the church family they serve.

    RIPPLE EFFECT

Most of us have heard the phrase "the ripple effect." Just what does it mean and how is it manifested? First things first - the definition. "A ripple effect is a situation in which, like ripples expanding across the water when an object is dropped into it, an effect from an initial state can be followed outwards incrementally." The corona virus pandemic is a crisis within itself. It has caused many people to be sick, led some to be hospitalized, resulted in many deaths, a

    A "GOLDEN" OPPORTUNITY!

Etymology, the study of the origin of words, can prove to be quite fascinating. Today I am thinking of the word "opportunity." "Opportune" first appeared around the year 1400 AD. It was derived from two words, ob ("to, toward") + portus ("harbor"), and refered to the wind. In the ancient world, when the wind changed its direction and started to blow towards the port or harbor, it provided the most favorable time to sail into the port - an OPPORTUNITY. I am thinking today

    "THE STORM"

I vividly remember my summer visits to my grandparents farm when I was growing up. Fishing and swimming in the creek that ran adjacent to their northern border. Running or walking through the trails in "the woods." Riding a tractor. Bailing and hauling alfalfa. Milking Guernsey and Holstein cattle. Sometimes, on a hot and humid summer day, a sudden thunderstorm would develop and "move in" while I was at the creek, in the woods, or playing in the field. I would see the s

    ANXIETY, ANYONE?

I've been thinking about the word "anxiety" recently. I've been wondering how many people have seen an increase in anxiety as a result of the corona virus crisis. After all, COVID-19 has certainly impacted our culture adversely since it arrived on the scene. And, of course, there are differing degrees of anxiety. For example, a person who experiences anxiety over the possibility of contracting and dying of the corona virus has a different level of anxiety than the person

    HOPE!

Hope is so huge for people. The late Emil Brunner once said, “What oxygen is for the lungs, such is hope for the meaning of human life.” In other words, as humans are dependent on a supply of oxygen to survive physically, even so humans are dependent on a supply of hope to survive emotionally. Proverbs 13:12a declares, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." In his commentary, David Guzik wrote: "The strength of hope sustains the heart; when hope’s fulfillment is long delaye
